22nd Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities
The 22nd Meeting of the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities (CEEDPA) took place from 28 February to 1 March 2024, in Tbilisi, Georgia. This year's event was hosted by the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia.
The conference gathered commissioners and representatives of data protection authorities from CEEDPA member states, including countries both within and outside the European Union. The two-day event focused on pressing issues related to personal data protection in the region. The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the protection of children’s personal data, international cooperation between supervisory authorities, and the role of data protection institutions in safeguarding democratic values and human rights in the digital environment.
A special emphasis was placed on the implementation of modern technologies and the challenges they pose to personal data protection, as well as the exchange of experience on national practices in supervision and enforcement. Participants also addressed the importance of effective communication with the public and raising awareness about privacy rights.
The meeting served as an important platform for exchanging best practices and strengthening regional cooperation. Through panel discussions and thematic sessions, the participants were able to share current experiences and future plans regarding data protection frameworks in their respective countries.
The event also included a presentation marking the continuous development of CEEDPA, which plays a key role in promoting the harmonization of personal data protection standards and supporting the capacity-building efforts of supervisory authorities in the region.
